A 14-year-old Australian student offers his view on China.
Dear China Internet Information Center:
Hello. My name is Aaron Walker, and I am a 14-year-old student from Melbourne, Australia.
I would just like to say, thank you for such a wonderful and informative website about China!
To me, China is the most amazing country in the world. It has such a long and beautiful history, which I love to research and learn. It is important for younger generations to learn the history of their countries, because otherwise they lose track of who they really are.
President Jiang Zemin is a great leader to the Chinese people. China is one of the only true Communist countries left, and it is one of the first countries to show it can have a successful economy and leadership under Communist government. He keeps the good names of great men like Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping alive.
One of the things I hope to see completed in my lifetime is for Taiwan to become part of China again. Taiwan is truly inalienable from China, it shares the same culture, same history, and just as Hong Kong became just as prosperous under Chinese government, so would Taiwan be if China governed it. It is only prolonging suffering of its people by having people of the same heritage ‘split' in different countries.
So thanks again. Although I am of European descent, I love to learn Asian languages, and I plan on studying mandarin and Cantonese in depth when I have time. Your website is a fantastic portal to all things related to China.
Chinese people should be proud; They have a beautiful history and culture, intelligent and dedicated leaders and much to hope for in the future. I hope to work in China one day! Thank you for reading my mail, and please reply if you have time.
Sincerely
Aaron Walker.
